About Me:
My name is Summer Doll. I am currently a senior at University of Washington Tacoma, graduating this Spring 2015 which I will receive my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Human Rights.
I currently work in the University of Washington Tacoma Library as a Library Student Assistant, working with various students and faculty as well as community members. I like to play an important role in the community, so I tend to be involved in quite a bit of extra curricular activities. My time at UWT has definitely been rewarding, and I have had so many opportunities to help build myself as a leader. During my time at UWT, I have been a full-time student the whole time, worked in the library part-time, served as Vice President of the Psychology Club on campus for a little over a year, volunteered as a High School Mentor for the STEPS program, and volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital's Medical Surgery Recovery Unit and now St. Joseph Hospital's Acute In-Patient Mental Health Unit.
In between those regular commitments, I have had the chance to be a part of this LEAD Certificate Program, attend different conferences and workshops, and help put together various projects in the community was as the Front Entrance Beautification Project which I did for my LEAD certificate, and being coordinator of the annual Party in the Park in my neighborhood. As a student at UWT, I had the lucky opportunity to do study abroad for my Psychology major in Italy studying "The Evolution of Consciousness and The Art of the Renaissance" and go on a service trip to New Orleans during my spring break 2015! Both were places I never attended before, but I'm so happy I did!
Volunteering has been a passion of mine since middle school. I've always enjoyed giving back to the community and making a positive difference in the lives of others. When I learned about the LEAD certificate, I thought "what better way to use my passion in a way that helps Learn, Engage, and Develop (LEAD) in myself as well as others?" What I've learned as a leader is that everyone is a leader in their own individual way, and by putting our unique abilities and skills together and influencing others, it can make quite a powerful impact.
Feel free to explore and see what leadership means to me!
